What is a spring tester?
Spring testers are machines specifically designed to measure the compression or tension force exerted by a spring at a specific length.
There are several types of manual spring tester available including manual, lever-action spring testers like Sauter's SD range, coil spring testers for specific testing of coil spring rate and compression and valve spring testers that use a valve-action compression method rather than a lever. Digital and motorised spring testers are also available to eliminate potential errors caused through manual spring testing methods.
Why do i need a spring tester?
Spring testers are crucial for testing the strength and overall quality of springs in many types of machinery. If springs do not perform correctly, this can cause machines to malfunction and potentially pose a critical safety risk for machine operators.
Aside from safety concerns, springs are required to exert a specific force at a specific length, poor quality springs may break under pressure or exert too little force than required, resulting in issues within manufactured products and engineering operations.
