Linear potentiometers, also known as linear displacement transducers or position sensors, are used to measure the distance an object has travelled from a pre-defined starting position using an output signal. They are commonly seen as standard-level voltage dividers and can be supplied with amplifiers. The measurement taken from these sensors are used to indicate the direction of motion.
