What can a signal conditioner be used for?
Signal conditioners are used to manipulate incoming signals in order to meet the next stage of a given process e.g analog to digital converters.The most common uses of signal conditioners include:
- Amplification - Increases the resolution of an input signal. Certain voltages may be too low for converters and therefore amplification is necessary for accurate processing.
- Linearisation - Considered an interpretative process for voltage signals that do not relate to a physical measurement.
- Filtering - Used to filter signal frequency into valid data forms.
- Electrical isolation - Signal isolation is often required to move a given signal from the source to a measuring device without the need for a physical connection.
