TN-EE Sauter Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge
Sauter's TN-EE thickness gauge utilises ultrasonic testing at high frequency. Highly directional sound waves are used to measure material thickness, find hidden internal flaws, or analyse material properties in metals, plastics, composites, ceramics, rubber, and glass.
Using frequencies beyond the limit of human hearing, ultrasonic instruments generate shorts bursts of sound energy that are coupled into the test piece, and the instrument monitors and analyses reflected or transmitted wave patterns to generate test results.
The TN-EE series utilises the Echo-Echo Measuring Principle.

Two measuring modes to determine material thickness:
- Pulse-echo mode
- Echo-echo mode
Determining the actual thickness of materials regardless of any coating which might be present. In this way, the wall thickness of pipes, for example can be determined in a non-destructive manner, i.e. without having to remove the coating
Echo-echo measurements are only possible with the measuring head included as part of the delivery (ATU-US12, see accessories)
